Renatian Consortium: An Overview
On the Founding of the Consortium & It's Early Development
The ancient corporate expedition to colonize the far reaches of the Cygnus Arm, and study the Xenos races that called it home, was originally simply called Expedition #325-R. A large and technologically advanced colony ship was sent, the "Harrowed Path". The initial colony was approximately 62 Terran years old when the onset of the Age of Strife began.
Being far away from the hub of activity their sector was relatively stable and safe, allowing them to build and grow. Their self sustaining infestructure endured they would not be hindered by isolation from the rest of humanity. As the centuries rolled past the leadership of the various operations, which were all held by separate companies, began infighting for control, each attempting to usurp the power of the others. This changed drastically however, with the encountering of an orkoid force that Invaded unexpectedly with great ferocity.
The various executives put their petty conflicts aside and with their combined forces destroyed the invasion. After this they came together and formed a single ruling body, where they would share power: The Triumvirate, comprised of three Archons; one from each of the founding Colonies, Renatian Prime, Arcadia, and Arnax.
Later that century (233 M28) a RCN patrol engaged and boarded a Xenos vessel that had been pirating a popular trade route. The ship was crewed by Eldar Corsairs. After the crew was mostly killed several "specimens" were captured and taken to a remote facility for testing, along with their weapons and their ship.
While being unable to replicate the Eldar technology completely, the Renatian Artificers were able to use knowledge gained from their design to improve the Consortium's own innovations. This resulted in a new line of Las weapons with much more efficient and advanced designs. Dubbed the "Crux Ultima" Line for vehicles, and "Pax Ultima" for infantry.
It was during this time that the Consortium began cultivating feral Orks for testing, such as experimental servitor implants, aggression and intelligence tests, as well as possible bioweapon applications. The result was the creation of the Equitus Pattern boarding pod. Inspired by orkoid drill craft, these pods would be loaded with groups of Ork servitors and launched at enemy ships. After several live tests on Eldar Corsairs it was approved for mass production.
This initially caused some issues at remote production sites, but flamer containment units kept the ork population in check.
After the vast changes to it's normal template, the STC interface became erratic and caused the fragmentation of several files before it was shut down and the data removed to external hardware.

Re: Renatian Consortium: An Overview
On the Imperium and the Great Crusade
During the explosion of activity that was the Great Crusade the Consortium became aware of the seemingly limitless armies of the so-called "Master of Mankind" and his trans human Warriors. The Triumvirate panicked, and set to arguing with one another while insane plans to stall the Crusade's oblivious but steady approach towards their domain. In 973 M30 the vanguard of the imperial war machine found them in the form of a Rouge Trader. His small fleet was quickly over come and he was captured. Interrogation was cut short by the Awakening of the Tomb World of Herosphax.
The captured Trader broke free, revealing himself to be a psyker. He convinced his captors to allow him to help plan the strategy against this new foe, as he had no desire to die and the Consortium still resorted to individual security forces rather than a single army.
He quickly organized the the various security forces into a variable legion. Though logistics and coordinated attacks the soon gained the upper hand.
With the Trader's help the Consortium was able to destroy the tomb world before it had fully awoken. For his aid the Consortium offered the Trader a deal; to stay on as the head of a newly founded colony known as New Gaia, being named Archon of this new world it quickly grew to be a center for learning and culture, but in exchange he would head their spy network within the Imperium.
He accepted, thus began the infamous "Age of Crows", in which hundreds of ineffective buracrats were murdered, died of mysterious causes, or simply vanished. This paved the way for the much more effective meritocracy to take the center stage of government.

Re: Renatian Consortium: An Overview
Modern Renatia
In the modern day of M42 the Renatians have long held ties with the Imperial underground and the cold trade. Their influence extends to Rouge Trader houses, planetary goveners, imperial commanders, and even space marine chapters and the Inquisition. No contact knows of any other contact, many never meet with their benefactors directly, and none know of the extent of their influence nor their true identity.
The Renatian Star Corps, the domestic military if the Consortium raises tens of thousands of legions, advanced and esoteric weapons, armor, and countless war machines.
Their cold, logical agenda allowing them to observe and direct without actually endangering themselves in any meaningful way... And they won't, not until the appointed time.
They are known to have fought a defensive campaign against elements of Hive Fleet Moloch in way of a splinter fleet that encountered Renatian territory as the main body of the fleet passed on into the ghoul stars.
